Hoot and Hare

My Story

Hi I'm Michael, after working nonstop for many years I’m now lucky enough to work a few less hours and therefore dedicate more time to my passion for art & crafts. I was very lucky to be commissioned by a wonderful local author to illustrate her book and loved doing it! I spent a lot of time working to her brief of black ink style illustrations and this then drew my attention to lino printing.

Spending time working on my illustrations was most enjoyable and once published I knew I just had to dedicate more of my time to art & crafts.  I’ve now gone from spending odd evenings pottering in my barn; making all sorts of reclaimed wooden creations and illustrating in all sorts of media; to purchasing a Victorian Printing Press and launching Hoot & Hare!

I’ve always loved art, and all things vintage! Old rustic items that have imperfections, character and uniqueness all appeal to me.  There are so many beautiful pieces of aged reclaimed wood, preloved furniture, materials and gifts from nature that, with a little tlc, can be reused again and enjoyed for years to come.

My pieces are all original, designed and handmade by me. My wife and daughter help out too.  My daughter is a great artist and loves making unique handmade characters and art from needle felt.  Which is great, as I think id be constantly pricking my fingers!  I really admire anyone who produces needle felts, such a lot of work goes into producing one!
